THE ‘KNIGHT FRANK’ REPORT titled 'Preliminary Options Appraisal for Northwood House and Park'

This feasibility study was commissioned jointly by the Isle of Wight Council and English Heritage in 2010, and its purpose is to set out the various options available to the Trustees to ensure a secure future for Northwood House. Although the Park is obviously mentioned in the report the focus is largely on the main House and outbuildings, and the recommendations are referenced in the Trustees’ consultation document. Much of the report’s background information is common knowledge but its recommendations are helpful.

THE ‘SCOTT WILSON’ REPORT titled ‘Northwood House Restoration Management Plan’

This report was commissioned in 2003 by the Isle of Wight Council with a view to making an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for grants to undertake work under the Urban Park Programme. It focuses very much on the Park, including fascinating sections on its history, trees and buildings, and makes a number of propositions for its future. In the event, despite much public discussion, its recommendations were not taken forward by the Council. Despite the passage of time the report itself is very helpful and comprehensive.
